CORRUGATED CARTONS

Mpact Corrugated produces corrugated packaging products for a diverse range of customers in the commercial, industrial and agricultural markets. Our world-class plants are located throughout Gauteng, KwaZulu Natal, the Western Cape, the Eastern Cape, as well as in Bloemfontein, Nelspruit, Namibia and Mozambique.

Mpact Corrugated is globally cost, quality and environmentally competitive, providing customers with quality corrugated products and services worth their price. Our sites are fully equipped to cater for various and specified corrugated packaging needs, and we pride ourselves in meeting local and export market’s requirements. A total of 220 000 tonnes of packaging is supplied to these markets each year.

Mpact Corrugated has invested in three high-graphic printing machines in Springs, Pinetown and Epping. This, as well as our in-house graphic design facilities, enables us to offer high-graphic printing on corrugated board, and is in line with our objective to grow inventive brands.

Mpact Corrugated is firmly committed to research and development, and has invested in innovation centres with structural and graphic design capability to complement our customers’ needs for product development and enhancement. Each innovation centre is fully resourced in:

Retail Ready Packaging

Retail Ready Packaging (RRP) is a packaging concept that takes the marketing, communication and branding of products onto the shopfloor.

This type of packaging can be described as packaging used as a shipper which can also be displayed in store. It should be easy to identify in a warehouse with preferably the high quality graphic image of the product on the case. The artwork should depict exactly what the contents and purpose of the product is. Furthermore, the case must be easy to open by hand without tearing the outer liner. The open cases should be able to be stacked and carried open or in the closed state. Most importantly, these cartons must be able to be used on automated packing lines without modifications required. The perforations are the secret to the success. We have invested in developing die’s which work consistently. Several RRP perforation blades were tested from the UK but we have opted for our own unique blade which we designed and had made locally. The design also protects the top perforations while providing a template shape against which the perforation can be torn. The packaging should also be easily broken down and recyclable.

The new Mpact Retail Ready wine carton meets the above specifications and received the 2007 Gold Pack Corrugated Innovation Trophy and a Silver Medal. Mpact also received a World Star Award for its effective wine carton as well as the Savanna Chill Pack, another RRP innovation.

Mpact Corrugated also received two Gold Medals at the 2011 Gold Pack Awards for the Itacitrus Lime Export Carton and the Ice Cream Freezer Transit Pack
