Paper manufacturing

Mpact operates three paper mills in South Africa, each specializing in the production of recycled-based packaging and industrial paper grades.

Felixton Mill: Located in KwaZulu-Natal, this mill produces recycled fibre-based containerboard, serving the agricultural and commercial sectors. Following a significant upgrade, the mill’s capacity increased to 215,000 tonnes per annum, and it now exclusively utilizes recycled fibre, eliminating the use of bagasse fibre. All products from Felixton Mill are certified as FSC Recycled 100%, emphasizing our commitment to responsible sourcing and environmental sustainability.

Piet Retief Mill: Situated in Mpumalanga, this mill also focuses on producing recycled fibre-based containerboard for the corrugated packaging industry. The products from Piet Retief Mill are certified as FSC Mix 70%, reflecting our dedication to responsible forestry management.

Springs Mill: Based in Gauteng, Springs Mill has a production capacity of 137,000 tonnes per annum. It specializes in manufacturing white-lined coated carton board, laminated board, and boards for industrial applications, primarily using recycled fibre sourced from Mpact Recycling. These products are utilized in various applications, including food and industrial packaging, as well as other industrial uses such as ceiling boards. The mill holds an FSC Mix Credit certification, underscoring our commitment to environmental sustainability.

Collectively, these mills play a pivotal role in Mpact’s integrated business model, converting recyclable materials into high-quality paper products that cater to diverse packaging needs across multiple sectors.
