Mpact Recycling is the leading paper recycler in South Africa, and the country’s leading collector of recyclable packaging. We have decades of experience in the recycling industry, having set up infrastructure and processes to enable recyclables to be successfully diverted from landfill since 1975. By closing the loop on materials like these, we reduce the amount of waste going to landfill, promote local beneficiation of raw materials and support the development of small businesses.
Mpact Recycling collected over 600 000 tonnes of recyclables (paper, glass, beverage cans, plastic and liquid board packaging) from pre- and post-consumer streams. We sort and bale recyclables and put this through our circular value-chain, which operates within a decentralised customer-focused structure.
Our primary goal lies in helping Mpact drive a circular economy. We do this by ensuring that Mpact’s paper mills and operations have the right quantity of material needed to support their production goals at prices and quality that maintains their competitiveness.
Mpact Waste Management manages the waste generated on manufacturing, commercial and residential sites around South Africa. Our aim is to provide sustainable solutions, tailored to your specific business requirements that reduces waste and adds value through waste minimisation, reuse and recycling.
Mpact Recycling’s head offices are located in Tulisa Park and Germiston. With 15 operational branches spread across Gauteng, the North-West Province, Western Cape and Kwa-Zulu Natal, we also have a nationwide footprint that provides us with the capability and understanding of the very nature of recycling and driving towards a circular economy across South Africa.

Paper
We collect paper from printers, publishers and converters – known as pre-consumer sources – as well as from post-consumer sources, which include many sources from community centres to estates, small businesses and our dealer network. Not only do these initiatives raise recycling awareness and create income opportunities, they also push recycling levels to new heights. The recovered paper is then sent to Mpact’s three paper mills where it is made into recycled-based carton-board and containerboard. It is then used to manufacture innovative board products, which are sold to the South African packaging industry.
Plastics, glass, cans
Our recycling journey starts with the collection and delivery of recyclables through our dealer network, buy-back centres and branches located countrywide. The recovered material is sold to other recyclers in South Africa to be made into new products.
Onsite waste management
Through Mpact Waste Management, we offer ethical on-site waste management services and solutions, customised to businesses in all sectors of retail, commerce and industry. We aim to maximise the extraction of recyclables from the waste stream, reduce waste to landfill and educate the public regarding the landfill crisis in South Africa.
On-site services include separation at source, hazardous waste solutions, alternative solutions for non-recyclables, office recycling, event waste management, confidential shredding and buying of recyclables.
The recovered material is sold to recyclers, including Mpact’s paper mills, as a raw material input source for the manufacture of recycled products.
Mpact gives effect to a true circular economy
