“Raising the visibility of women in every sphere is vital to empowering women and achieving gender parity. It takes an accumulation of role models – real-life examples of what girls and women can do if given the opportunity – to change entrenched attitudes.”
– Dr Ansary, UN Women Global Champion
During the year under review, the Group launched the Mpact Women’s Forum, the aim of which is to provide women within the Group a platform to develop and grow through training, mentoring, the provision of career information and advice, and to increase their knowledge in terms of both the packaging industry and the Group’s own products.
The Forum is founded on the vision of providing a valuable platform for the inspiration and empowerment of women across all divisions of Mpact through a variety of initiatives and opportunities for personal growth and development, while its mission is to empower, inspire and motivate the women at Mpact by promoting opportunities to support, connect and develop women at all levels and in all divisions at Mpact.
Given that female empowerment is critical in achieving equitable female representation across many industries, including the packaging industry, Mpact is committed to promoting a work environment focused on diversity and inclusivity by embracing everyone’s unique culture as a growth opportunity and providing education to strengthen Mpact women’s business acumen.
The Women’s Forum will also focus on career development and progression for females. In addition, women will be empowered on a personal level. Gender-based violence remains a serious topic of discussion in the country and Mpact takes this scourge very seriously. The Women’s Forum aims to educate and empower women to avoid becoming victims of gender-based violence.
Furthermore, work life balance and physical and mental health awareness are key to the holistic development of women. The Women’s Forum will achieve its objectives through networking sessions, mentoring programmes, broadcasts, webinars and the e-learning platform. There are also plans to hold events like a sanitary towel drive and Mpact Walkathon.
