Mpact Paper community projects

Mpact Paper’s initiatives exemplify the Group’s dedication to driving positive change through collaboration, education, and care for the environment and society.

The Mkhondo paper mill Women’s Forum launched the “Keep a Girl Child in School” campaign to combat absenteeism among girls during their menstrual cycles. This initiative provided 408 packs containing essential hygiene products, including reusable sanitary towels, to learners at the Mlilo and Kemp Siding schools that are situated close to the mill. The forum organised a fundraising campaign that was supported by employees and donations by onsite contractors. This proved to be a successful collaboration, led by Mpact, to address the need of the local community.

The Mkhondo paper mill also partnered with the Department of Education to sponsor the Mpact Career Exhibition, which attracted over 5,400 attendees, including learners and unemployed youth. The event connected participants with over 116 exhibitors, offering insights into career opportunities, bursaries, and graduate programmes. The exhibition empowered attendees to make informed decisions about their futures.

At Felixton paper mill, the Women’s Forum visited the Thuthuzela Rape Care Centre, donating 70 care packs to support victims of gender-based violence. The team marked Global Recycling Day with creative initiatives like a Recycling Art Contest and Waste Collection Challenge, fostering environmental awareness. Mpact proudly sponsored the trophies for an event arranged by Zamangwane, a NPO dedicated to fostering youth development in the Mevamhlophe area within Empangeni.

The Springs paper mill demonstrated its commitment to social upliftment by donating R10,000 worth of essentials to Leratong Place of Love Crisis Centre and revamping the kitchen at Zimisele Secondary School with a contribution of R48,500. These efforts ensure both immediate relief and sustainable benefits for local communities.
