Mpact Recycling proactively engages with stakeholders and waste collectors, as key contributors to the recycling value chain. Through various initiatives, the division provides essential resources, and promotes sustainable practices, ensuring a positive impact on both the environment and local communities.
With the support of other operations, Mpact Recycling continued to promote recycling within communities through various initiatives including Global Recycling Day, World Environment Day, and National Recycling and Clean-up week. Donations of wheelie bins and office recyclers to local organisations and communities raise awareness about the circular economy and promote recycling.

In partnership with PETCO, Mpact Recycling hosted activities at all 14 branches (from April to June 2024) to encourage the collection of liquid board packaging. Waste collectors were celebrated for their efforts and prizes were awarded to those who brought in over 5 tonnes of recyclable material. These engagements incentivised collections and reinforced the vital role of collectors in advancing recycling efforts.
Mpact Recycling also collaborated with Singakwenza, a NPO dedicated to Early Childhood Education, for Global Recycling Day. Six collection shelves were distributed to assist in gathering specific recyclables that Singakwenza uses to create handmade educational toys from waste. We continue to support this initiative to reach more children in the Gauteng and KZN regions.
Furthering its mission to educate and empower, Mpact Recycling partnered with its Waste Management division to support Manger Care Centre in Benoni. This initiative provided toiletries, tools, and training to help the centre establish a waste management space, enabling it to generate income while promoting environmental awareness among its 180 residents.
On Mandela Day, the Germiston operation served cups of soup to waste collectors and distributed “Proud Recycler” bucket hats. Additionally, the branch introduced a dedicated urn for collectors to access hot water for warm drinks during the winter months, reflecting Mpact Recycling’s appreciation for their unwavering support.
Mpact Recycling is constantly on the lookout for ways to transform waste for the greater good. To better inform the public, a resources section was launched with guidance pertaining to recyclable codes, substantiated by infographics and interactive content for the younger generation.
