The Mpact Women’s Forum, launched in 2022, aims to empower women within the Group to develop and grow through professional training, mentoring and career advice. This initiative also provides a platform for women across the business to connect and support one another, and to enhance and share their knowledge of Mpact’s products and the packaging industry.
In 2024, the forum hosted a number of activities across our operational sites to encourage women to celebrate, address issues that affect them in the workplace, and support local communities.
Events, such as the “Dare Me Day”, offered younger women the opportunity to engage with those in management roles to discuss their career progression, the challenges that they have overcome and areas to improve on as female employees. These forums facilitate a safe space for women to interact and share their experience and insights of issues such as worklife balance, physical and mental health and gender-based violence.
At the Mkhondo paper mill, the forum launched a “Keeping a Girl Child in School” movement by donating sanitary products to learners to assist them not to miss school during their menstrual cycle.
The Bins and Crates businesses in Atlantis, Brits and Castleview held high-tea events to celebrate the remarkable contributions and achievements of the women at Mpact. Women at the Wadeville operation were honoured at an event at which they were also encouraged to focus on improving their personal journeys.
